Italian impressionist oil painting on canvas depicting one young woman playing a backstage piano while other young woman and man are enjoying the beautiful sound of music.

This wonderful piece is by the Italian painter V. Varani c. 1971 /20th century impressionist artist and is in overall very good condition consistent with the age. Canvas clean with vibrant colors is framed into ornate gilt frame. Matting between canvas and frame shows toning and water discolorations.

The artist V. Varani was born in Formia in 1920 and lived and worked in Milan for many years where he was able to find a suitable atmosphere for his artistic feelings. The techniques of his pictures apparently simple are a surprising procession of colors which gradually fade allowing reality to become poetry. This artist is endlessly seeking new subjects that he portrays in delicate colors with great sensibility. His works can be found in collective exhibitions around Milan and Europe.
