Hopper Emory (1881-1939) Signed 1937 finely detailed cityscape of New York City prominently showing the Empire State Building shortly after construction in the 1930s. Etching signed in pencil lower right annotated in pencil lower left.

Etching has been matted and professionally framed under glass. Overall etching condition good to very good yet not examined out of frame. Matting shows toning paper discoloration and small water stain on the bottom of the artwork. Frame stained wood and in vintage condition perfectly complementing the iconic image of New York City architectural landmark. Please see all the pictures for condition details.

Framed this piece measures c. WxHxD – 14 ½ x 21 ¼ x ½ inches. Image measures WxH – 8 ¼ x 14 ½ inches. Artwork weighs 3.3 lbs. More pictures are available upon request.

About the artist:
Emory (1881-1939) was born in Baltimore Maryland and had a successful career in banking before he turned exclusively to his artwork. He traveled to England where he studied at the Heatherley School of Fine Art in London then returned to Maryland where he became known for his delicately rendered architectural and maritime etchings.
