Fantastic American Folk Art oil on canvas painting unsigned decepting dark green mountainside stretching over classic lake or river stream with small steam paddle boats cursing peacefully on the Sunday afternoon. All that beautiful scenery can be carefully appreciated from the view of the small white house in nearby forest.
The painting probably dates to circa 1890 and is overall in good condition with recent day’s (1997) professional canvas restoration. There is some craquelure throughout mostly visible in top right and left toners of the painting above tree lines as well as few pinpoint losses.
Framing is professional and modern c.1950’s or possibly later. Painted gold wood frame nicely complements overall look and feel of the painting. Same wear and tear to the frame present mostly small chips back clean and restored.
Framed this painting measures c. WxHxD – 34 ½ x 26 ¾ x 1 inches. Canvas measures WxH – 32 x 24 inches. Painting weighs 5 lbs.
