FERDINAND SCHUYLER MATHEWS
Mrs. C. H. Wheeler Chrysanthemum
The Mrs. C. H. Wheeler is a Japanese Chrysanthemum, named after Mrs. Wheeler, one of Philadelphias leading citizens who was greatly interested in Chrysanthemums.
This beautiful lithograph with pronounced Japanese influence, is based from a nature study watercolor by Sidney Callowhill.
Accompanying this print is a companion poem called Her Jewel by Kate Upson Clark, on the lovely, reserved character of the flower which seems to close around its own heart, as though it had a priceless pearl to guard
