The Kangaroo
Sketched by Sydney Parkinson onboard HMS Endeavour during Captain Cook's first voyage in 1770
Sydney Parkinson was Captain Cook's official artist on on the Endeavour, and sketched the kangaroo while getting repairs near Cooktown. Naturist Sir Joseph Banks was also present on the Endeavour and commissioned George Stubbs to paint the Kangaroo after a skin was sent back to Brittain.
